Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I wouldn't pay more than $25 for that bike.

Sure, why not? One note though, check to see what kind of dropouts it has. Horizontal/semi-horizontal dropouts will make the conversion much easier for you.

Assuming that all you have to do is spin on a cog, redish, and respace, I'm sure it's fine.

Bikes: cannondale f300, surly steamroller

good - the rear hub is a freewheel hub so you could easily spin on a bmx freewheel/respace/redish.
good - 3 piece cranks
bad - $125 is a bit much, but if you can do the conversion for cheap, you're fine
bad - looks like its been sitting outside so some components might be shot. make sure the bb/headset work fine and the hubs are in decent shape. if not, your budget will be ****ed.

would be a fun project!
