Re-threading a hub

Is it possible(or a good idea) to have the freewheel side of a flip-flop hub machined to properly thread a lockring?
I've searched here and sheldonbrown's site and can't find an answer.

Bikes: Zeus Road bike, Bareknuckle fixed

you can do it, if you disassemble your wheel first, then take it to a machine shop and pay a bunch of money to have it done right, and then put your wheel back together.

why don't you just get a flip flop that has both sides for fixed ?

Especially considering a new fixed hub is like $40 max for say a formula.
