White Saddles?
Hey,
I'm thinking about getting a Fizik Arione Saddle and I'm unsure of what color to go with. My first choice would be white, but, is that thing going to stain when I wear pants?
I don't ride in the rain much, and if I did, I would protect or change up the saddle. But it's summer now, and my buns might start sweating or something. Will these stain if I wear pants any other color than white?
I don't have any white pants.

pretty much every white saddle i've ever seen tends to take on a bluish tint from the jeans after a while, though i'm not sure i've seen this specifically on an arione. i'm also assuming you usually bike in jeans, which i'm assuming you do since you're posting about a white saddle in bfssfg. it's just like white sneaks or white anything else - it won't stay white forever.

I don't have a good close up picture, but I bought this Arione saddle used and have had it for 2 full years. I never even clean it and it looks almost brand new, except for a couple scuffs and scratches. No discoloration whatsoever.

Depends on the material. Suede will certainly get dirty fast. All you can do is Scotchguard, keep your hands and pants clean and hope for the best. Smooth leather resists staining, but denim will scuff it, so just wear synthetic shorts and/or treat it with clear wax shoe polish. Fizik's Microtex is very dirt resistant, even though it feels like soft, high quality leather. Other synthetic materials vary.

Bikes: who the **** knows anymore. its all mish moshed together like the millenium falcon. but she's got it where it counts.
heck, my saddle is yellow and is totally destroyed color wise from blue/black jeans. I would imagine a similar deal with white. I wouldn't expect the white color to hold up over the years. it is bound to get scuffed.

I have had a white leather Concor saddle on my track bike for a couple years now and it is still very white. I have made the mistake of wearing raw denim while riding -- however, if you clean it right away (I just wiped it down using some "natural" all-purpose cleaner) the blue comes off easily.

I've wanted a Regal for a while now to go one one of my bikes. Just haven't had the need for a saddle on a bike that one would look fitting on yet. I think they were introduced around the mid 80's right? Guess my Serotta would look pretty sweet with a black one...
(much lust for the seat post too, till recently I always ran my posts too low to consider buying one, then I got fitted and realized I was riding my bike like a 6 year old - the saddle 3cm too low!)

some discoloration sometimes---yellow corduroy shorts are worse than blue denim IMHO---but yeah, def better when you wear pants than when you don't
