motobecane project

So I got this frame for $30 bucks from a LBS (what would you have paid for it) My intention is to strip it repaint it and give it to my wife to be thought suggestions are wanted and welcome, so are insults and sarcasm. I hope the photos turn out OK. what would you do to the rusty chrome. I have built up other bikes but this will be the first strip and repaint!

Is it my eyes or is the frame as big as it looks? Anyways, strip it with Jasco or Aircraft paint stripper. Should come right off, there might be chrome underneath so definitely look into a rust remover. I have a bottle that works really well on the rust spots on my Bianchi when I did some maintenance and it worked like a charm.

What kind of BB are you going to use? I assume that it's french threaded?

Just curious because I've been thinking about turning my old motobecane into a project as well and am not super excited about dealing with reverse threads.

I am not sure yet but I am thinking it is a French threaded. I just got it last night and have not had a chance to do much more than take the photos.

I will let you know what I find out, hopefully taking it to LBS for BB and stem info this weekend

Bikes: Generic Fixed - Hand built frame, Raleigh One-Way, Motobecane Grand Record

Check out this link, he rebuilds an older motobecane.
It might have some tips you could use.
