Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

+1 to an over tightened chain.

Make sure your crank bolts are tight?

Not on a FG.
I would be super pissed if my drivetrain made a lot of noise so I can see where OP is coming from. Sadly, no recommendation aside from grease.

The noise is produced by lack of grease and subpar bevelling on cog/chain. So if either looks squarish at the contact area you know who the culprit is.
