multi-speed fixed hubs
anybody who's ridden one, please tell me what the hell does is feel like when you shift? All I can picture is that the cranks will abruptly and forcefully jump to a higher/lower cadence, which I guess would feel weird. I searched the forums and never saw this answered. Also, a lot of posts asked about how they hold up to skidding/resistance and I never saw that answered either.

With the sturmey archer ASC, when I shift I let my legs go limp (let the pedals move my feet) and hit the trigger. The hub doesnt like to shift while really hammering. Hitting the trigger pulls the cable which pulls the chain, and then bam, im going the same speed but spinning at a higher cadence. its no more disconcerting feeling than when I am riding fast on a road bike and shift gears under load. It holds up fine to resistance, but i havent really tested it out with skipping/skidding as I have front and rear braks on my set up, and betwen the asc and my dynohub the bikes a bit of a tank. Its fun though! Click the Carlton Flyer pic in my signature if youre curious.
