kazane cranks from keirin culture

the price is definitely right... your choice of some nice colors for twenty bucks more than competition, which only come in a few finishes that kazane not only offers, but probably offers better coat jobs on.

right now all i have is eye candy and 'in hand' opinions. once i get a bb tool i will let you know what i think of standing on them.

so:

there are a few blemishes because of the anodizing and a few uneven spots, but they're pretty nice even under "i'm judging this super-critically" scrutiny. the bb cups have a few damaged parts that i'm a little worried about, but it will probably be just fine.

coating: 7/10
overall finish: 8/10
value: 10/10(pending roundness and feel on the bike)

they're light, look pretty good, and you get a lot for 125 plus 11 for shipping. i'll update with impressions while installing and riding once i get a bb tool.

Those are pretty impressive and dirt cheap. I personally don't like the fat/flared out center of each crankarm, makes them look like cheaper generic RPMs.sorry for being lazy but what is the BCD?

144 bcd, use real track rings!

which might be a good idea because the ring is a slightly different color anodizing on mine anyway

W00t! For 144 bcd I think that's the best deal around for new cranks?

andels are 95 plus shipping but they have a much different (imo really gross) coating on them that's kinda texture crinkle black...

i've seen a picture of the andels on here that have a bunch of scratches in the black that show the silver aluminum underneath.

i'd like to get some info, i think these are cold forged like the soma hellyer, but i'm not sure. they're light as hell, that's for sure.

Is it me or do they look like the pedal hole isn't centered in the way that they might use the same crank arms for 165s and 170s and just drill them differently?

^this is probable yes.

however the weight added by the 'extra space' is probably less than 5 grams and the 165 will still raise the pedals closer to the bb compared to 170 so you're still reducing pedal strike.

and since i'm swapping out some 170s for these i think that's good.

i have no clue if they're the same other than they look exactly like andels that were coated with a better anodizing.

these are the same as the andels, iros, soma hellyer, alien, etc. andel makes them, and all these other companies get them and rebrand them. i just ordered the alien cranks a month and a half ago, and they're due to ship in june (they were backordered). very excited.

I ordered a black one for my new build. What sold me was that it comes with a 48T chainring whereas Alien and Andel come with a 46T I believe. Bonus with the BB.

Is this right? Ben's Cycle says "42mm Chainline +/- 0.5mm when used with 110.5mm Bottom Bracket" for the Andel crankset. The Kazane comes with a 110.5mm BB. Formulas are 42mm right?

You know I have no clue though about this Andel rebranding thingy. Alien webpage says 103mm chainline for their nonamed Andel crankset. FG Gallery review of the Alien crankset says 107mm BB...

I'll wait and see.

well all i know is that my 07 bikeisland kilo tt frameset 53cm has the 110.5 vb-bc81 pushing the crank a few mm too far out.

what's even funnier is that my sugino VP's were 170 on drive side... and 165 on the left this whole time my left side's been working harder and going in smaller circles

maybe i didn't install the bb correctly, and it's not threaded in far enough on the drive side? that's my only guess. i tightened the bolts as much as i dare, so it's not like they're not on the tapers properly.

i probably just didn't screw the drive side bb shell in enough. i dunno.

it's not that bad. and i like the cranks a lot. i used threadlocker as per park's website on the bb cups, maybe i thought they were tight enough because of the threadlocker? i just didn't want to break anything.

This has been covered before. The cranks are the same Andel/alien/kazane/Soma/IRO (130bcd) all form the same manufacture in Taiwan. You can look up andel online and find their Taiwan site with pics of the cranks branded with the ANDEL on them as well. Some are rebranded in the case of the Kazane, soma and the 130 bcd IRO.

I have a andel and alien cranksets with the 110.5 bb on my Samson, reminton, bridestone and on my 3rensho. No problems yet. If we are talking a few mm I don;t think that it won't make that much of a difference but hey that's me. As far as the Kilo is concerned give it a try but I have heard no complaints about the IRO cranks and the Soma (which I have seen on kilos with formulas) with the same 110.5 bb being a problem so I am assuming that the BB should work with your formulas. WTF do I know...

Ah, by naming all the rebrands and then the (130bcd) I assumed he meant all of them were that, but it's clear.

ghetto .2mm shim, live life on the edge

I really just hate seeing the almighty Thomson seatpost-stem combo broken up.. you already spent the money for the high-end part, might as well complete the group.

well i think the next step would be gum-sidewall tires and writing "samba" on the chainring.

beautiful ride, well done.
