Everybody likes new... but when it comes down to value you're better off finding something with a few miles on it. Bikes aren't too different from cars - the minute you roll out of the dealer you just lost at least a couple hundred bucks. You should patiently comb through craigslist, ebay and other fixies for sale sites and go test ride a few bikes. And unlike used cars, a well maintained used bike with nice wheels will ride just as smooth as new.
