Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? need help to start building a bike

I'm fairly new to all this fixed gear stuff and would like to build a bike to learn as much as I can. As of right now I was hoping to get the orange kilo off of bikeisland.com and work with that. Can you guys set me on my way and show me what I need to get, what I should get and what not. If possible keep all of the stuff on bikeisland so I can get as much as I can at once and try to keep the around my budget of 500 dollars

Have you looked into the Bianchi Pista? You can buy a complete for a little over $500. You just need to get a front brake.

I thought about it but I never really looked into it. Where could I get the pista online though? And is that price for a new one?

One way to start your build is to get this build kit from IRO and get a lot of the stuff you'll need in one shot: https://shop.irocycle.com/shop/produc...2&cat=3&page=1

IRO also makes great wheelsets for cheap. But you are gonna find out that building a bike from the frame up costs more than buying a built bike. Good luck.

For around $500 you could get a good bike on eBay right now:

If I get that kit from Iro what else would I need apart from a brake?

I can't click on add to cart on that site, but I found out on one of those ebay listings the adrenaline bike shop is about a 20 min drive away from me
