Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Wheel builders: A question

I just laced up a radial non-drive with a 3x drive side. I did the 3x first and laced the radial with a head up head down pattern like I would a 2x/3x. It ocurred to me after the fact that all the radials I have ever seen have been all heads up with the exception of bladed spokes. Any reason that this head up/down would be less affective than an all heads up set? Thanks. Joey
