No, no my friend. I sold one, but I'm still on the team:

I saw this bike in Velospace the other day. Drooool!

Would you guys bother posting what you paid for the full C-record crankset. I just found a NOS pair but the guy wants $450 for it. I'm so tempted but I wanted to see if that's overpriced.

TNCLR 06-29-08 05:11 PM

$450 is too much in my opinion. Keep in mind, the C-Record cranks are identical to the current Campy track cranks, other than the logo. Actually, I think the newer ones use a hex crank bolt rather than a 14mm w/dustcap, but still. Those differences are minute and definitely not worth paying a premium for.

I think I paid $250 for the last set I bought. That included a chainring.

johnprolly 06-29-08 07:41 PM

$200 for the cranks, dustcaps and bolts. $50 for the chainring.... Mine were in great condition. $450 is absurd, unless it's been pissed on by the Cannibal himself or some ****.

If you want cheap don't go looking NOS. New Old Stock = Not Overly reaSonable

[QUOTE=TNCLR;6969148Keep in mind, the C-Record cranks are identical to the current Campy track cranks, other than the logo.[/QUOTE]

That's why it's hard to justify paying $150 more than the current version just for a different logo. The thing is the guy saw a similar crank go for $700 on ebay and he won't come down on the price. Oh well. I will wait it out. Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm not only looking at NOS items, used as well.

Sold mine to a prominent collector in Michigan for what I paid ($275 two years ago on zeeBay)...

The bike still kicks around the track with newish Record road cranks.

If I could get these for $275 I would feel really lucky. Unfortunately I don't see that happening because these cranks seem to be the "in" thing right now. Yesterday just the crank arms sold for $350. It's nutty out there!

johnprolly 06-29-08 09:27 PM

get record cranks and call it a day. no sense in spending absurd amounts of money for something as small as the badge. If it's going on an Italian build, is it all period correct? If not, then just go Record.

I have all CRecord on my Merckx, sans seatpost and bottom bracket... do I care? NAH!

drainyoo 06-29-08 09:49 PM

It is an italian build but the parts are from different periods. But you're definitely right. If I can get the C record version for a reasonable price then I will, if not it will just be the current version. No biggy. I didn't expect the market for these to be so ridiculous.

johnprolly 06-30-08 07:44 AM

is it Italian as in, Made in Italy, or Italian as in Taiwanese Bianchi Pista? If it's the latter, just get Records.

drainyoo 06-30-08 09:07 AM

Yup it's a Pista. I would love to do a build with everything made in Italy but that seems to be very difficult these days.

DARTHVADER 06-30-08 11:21 AM

i wouldn't be sweating anything like this for a build on a new bike. just get the current record pista cranks.

drainyoo 06-30-08 11:52 AM

Yeah you're right. I might even go for the cheaper Miche cranks.

johnprolly 06-30-08 02:30 PM

Which are also great cranks IMO...

drainyoo 06-30-08 02:52 PM

Would a campy chainring fit onto the Miche Advanced crank arms? The BCD is 144 on both right?
