Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Kona Unit

I'm probably getting the '04 Kona Unit soon. Does anyone have any experience with it? I also looked at the KHS single speed but have never really heard of this bike. Any advice before I get it this weekend? Thanks!

i had the chance to ride the 03 unit and loved it I couldn't afford it so i made my kona cinder cone in to a ridged single speed (almost exatly the same feel) love it love it.

Im saving for the 04 unit right now so you will have to tell me about it when you get it.
the only thing about the 04 unit I don't like the color to much

What did you end up buying?

I've been riding the Kona Unit for a little while now. It's a very nice bike. Very responsive and easy to control. Super rigid as well.

Definitely a happy kona camper.

I quite like the colour actually (I've got the 04 model). Looks kinda tough riding down Brunswick St in Melbourne. =)
