Taking a chain off.

I just picked up a bike yesterday. The fame is in good condition. The rest is not. I have never really stripped a bike before and was just wondering how to break/disassemble the chain. I think I'm gonna build it up into a single speed, so I won't need the chain again. Any tips will help. Thank you.

P.S. It's a Concord Raven. Does anyone know about these?

chain breaker tool...if you want to save money you can use a hammer and a chisel

i think concords are pretty rare, i have a concord freedom deluxe that i bought from a guy on craigslist that was already converted to a singlespeed...good lugged frame and very sturdy, i can't seem to find any information on these frames anywhere

Yeah, I couldn't find any information either. just people on other forums asking the same question. It seems like a good frame. I think I'm going to build it into my utility bike.

If you are just going to toss the chain, a bolt cutter is just fine.

Congrats on getting the bike.. but remove the chain properly. Get a chain tool, park tool makes good ones, the ct-3 or ct-5 would be good. They also have instructions on the website. This type of tool is essential if your going to be building/converting a bike.

You don't need a shop qualitiy tool for home repairs, although it is nice.
