bike pedals?
hey, i just got my mercier kilo tt and i wanted to switch out the clip part of the bike pedal. are there any places that sells just the clip? its plastic and it gets in the way of riding.. it makes it harder for me to get my foot in.
Or do i have to buy a new set of pedals? if so what kind do you recommend? I'm on a budget too. thanks!

its plastic so if i accidentally step on it, the tip gets stuck in the pedals and then it takes awhile for me to get my foot in there.
okay i just saw that nashbar has toe clips..
are all toe clips universal?

The most common kind has two bolts and attaches vertically, although there are some rarer types of clips that bolt horizontally. Most toe clips are compatible with most toe-clip compatible pedals. (that was a confusing sentence probably)

the stock kilo pedals are total ****. i would just recommend a whole new setup. check out benscycle.com, they sell pedal kits for ~$50

I second the MKS Sylvans. I have been on 3 bikes with them and they are comfortable and easy to get into. Now that I have picked up an old frame to convert, I just ordered a set.

its the sylvan "track" right? whats the difference between that and road? or is there another specific one i should be looking into?

Soma Double straps

Brooks leather straps (also in black)

Pick a pedal, then pick some straps. Then you are done. Go ride.

You're riding pretty much a track bike so you would want to have track pedals they are a little smaller than the road and touring pedals - good for ground clearance. The MKS Sylvan are about the best. You can go with whatever clips and straps are comfortable for you. The chrome MKS clips with leather straps look great if it's about a more custom kind of look but they can get bent. I prefer clips that are made of polycarbonate material with nylon straps. They are more comfortable on your feet, easier to get in/out of and they won't bend.

ball busting set aside, the mks tours, track, stream, all of those are the exact same except for the lil edges. they all weigh the same, are the same size, i have the tours because the track's were sold out and they're all the same. i dont think adding "track" to it doesn't necessarily mean you need those over the others. dimension makes "track" pedals too, very similar to the mks sylvan tracks.
and as for toe cages, iunno people seem to like steel. they hold their shape and dont bend/get caught. leather straps are good too, but general consensus says the soma leather straps blow hard
