Wider tires

I posted about this before, but no responses, , does anyone use/know what tire size/brand/wheelset thats more like a hybrid bike. I am not building a hybrid bike per-se but I want a wider tire than a road bike tire. I am makeing my bike into a rain/snow/crappy weather bike and just was looking for some suggestions.

it has 27" 1/4, its an old schwinn continental, its a tank, so I think it would roll nice on the thicker meats

27" rarely comes with anything other than 1 1/4". I got some 1 1/8" and I know 1 3/8" exist but the quality, is gonna be questionable. Your frame will hold 700c and those come in a huge variety of sizes and treads.

Check out the Velocity VXC's. Great on/off road wheel and throw some Vittoria Randonneur's on 'em. Perfect for what your looking for. Almost bomb-proof.

Bikes: Rustbuckets, the lot of them.

27x1 3/8" tires are on my bike. I got them on closeout for almost nothing, with the brand name ground off, and the pressure ratings in bars rather than psi. They seem decent enough. They do feel a bit slower and softer than 1 1/4" wide tires. But not so much to motivate me to change them over the last year. New tires in this size do seem pretty hard to come by these days.
