Sorry about your loss and I hope you'll get it back. I came across this vid of some guy stealing his own bikes in public just to proove a point ... kinda sad.

I always use a thick armoured cable, and a mini U-Lock, whenever I lock up, even for 5 mins

Sucks to get the ride jacked, sucks more when its a result of something stupid. |
so let me get this straight, 11201ny writes a post asking for people to go out of their way to help him recover his bike but he will not even offer the particulars of how it happened? great strategy... give smart ass arrogant responses to the people you're asking to help you.

biked locket to street post with u-lock. bike gone. |
i have been a member of this community for a long while. i don't typically post anything anymore because of the circle jerk that always seems to ensue. i ask the nyc members to keep an eye out, that's it. to be blunt, it's yet another story of a bike locked up (with kryptonite u-locks) that has been jacked. being that it is a fairly obvious track bike, my hope is that a member of the bike / mess community might see it and give me a heads up. i would personally do the same for any of you. other than that, the facts are moot.
thanks. one long kryptonite locking rear wheel & frame to sign. a second short kryptonite locking front wheel to frame. |

this reminds me of this kid that left his pista unlocked outside of a restaurant while he was ordering take-out yesterday...i couldve gotten me a new bike. I shouldve taken it around the block just to teach the kid a lesson. but your case is different since you did lock it up. So they didnt leave any evidence like a sawed through ulock? weird...

OP, you say that you would do the same in helping other people if their bike was stolen, right? I think that all people want to know is if the kryptonite locks are inferior or if it was your own fault. Simple. No one on here wants to walk out to their bike missing. That said, please help us in understanding what we can do to avoid the same thing happening to one of us. That would be helping.
PS I hope you get your ride back. |
i can't answer that except to say that i believe that if someone wants to take a bike, they will. i've had that bike for three years without incident. i think the only thing i will make sure of next time is that i have renters insurance. from what i understand it would have covered my bike. i have trusted my kryptonite locks most of the time.

Wow. Some truly awful posters in here. I'll just address the above - "proper locks" get busted all the time. Professional thieves exist. Hell, you can even get a locksmith to come do it for you in broad daylight with power tools and not be questioned by anyone.
11201, you should come join us in NYfixed. Its a much more helpful place, and bikes have been recovered by members. Sorry to hear about your loss - will be keeping an eye out for the bike. And a HUGE f you to deathhare for his self shilling pistoposeur bs. Way to be selfserving in a thread that simply was asking for NYC members to keep an eye out. Why should he pay you a premium to plug in some numbers on a website? For those that dont know, this is all that dude does, while charging people for his service. http://www.panabyc.co.jp/products/pos/fp29.html Get a japanese reading friend to help order if you need. |

Come on now... More than one person has C-Record hubs in NYC. I've bought parts from that guy. He's legit.

Or maybe he's just a legit reseller who doesn't need to be drug into this. Besides, that Wheelset 11201 had was nice. No one would break it down to sell the hubs.
