Whats the deal with Deep Vs?

I'm looking for a new wheelset for my Pista. I'm fairly new to the FG scene but all I see are people with Deep V rims. What makes them so popular besides looks and why are they supposedly so good? I tried to do a search but it didn't come up with much info.

They're strong and come in lots of colors for those with color coordination in mind.

They're popular because of looks and colors. End of story.

pretty much what they said... they are heavy wheels... they come in all kinds of hole drillings... all colors.. deep aero profile... very tank like... etc.

They are out of fashion. They are a strong rim for street riding.

instead if you buy velocity fusions, it will look like deep v but weigh a lot less. those are perfect heavy duty wheels.

nah, that's where I store my U-lock so I don't forget it, I put it on the doorknob and I hang my keys from the deadbolt

normally the bike goes the other way with the front to the left and sitting on that big piece of cardboard so it doesn't F up my carpet........which hasn't helped much
