whats so bad about trying to find people with common interests? i like to ride my fixed gear, i ride it way more than i drive my car, but i do also enjoy my subaru. why not find people who have similar interests to me? and a bike forum seems like a good place to find people who are interested in bikes- imagine that.

there are places to post our subaru pictures too- and we do, and guess what else? people post pictures of their bikes and nobody has a cow. i have only had positive comments and questions from people interested in my fixed gear when i post there. i thought and hoped that maybe this community would be similar- thats why it seems that this forum is full of elitist, and closed minded people. there all some cool people on this forum too, just just seem to be horribly outnumbered, unfortunately.

It's also a really good place to find people who are absolutely uninterested in -- if not completely opposed to -- cars. Many people here fight cars and the stupidity of the majority of people who drive them on a day-to-day basis. Many people here -- myself included -- have been hit by a car at no fault of their own.

I'll lay odds that the ratio of people who hate cars vs. those who like cars, here, is way greater than the people who hate bikes vs. those who like bikes on the car forums. There are more car people that like bikes than there are bike people who like cars.

Don't get me wrong; while I find the Subaru to be an absolutely uninteresting, uninspired, and bland car, I am car-compatible. I drive to work every day and I love my 1-of-829-sold, tangerine orange, 1996 Mustang GT. I also don't think the off-topic factor of this thread is a big deal. I am, however, surprised that this thread has received what little warm welcome it has on a site with such a large bias against cars and traffic.

You'd think that it would make them happy then that people interested in cars are becoming interested in bikes. Therefore switching over to riding instead of driving, but... they just come off as ****** bags.

But that's just how I see it.

Not to mention about half the mpg. Most mildly modded subarus still get 30+ mpg.

Hey, to each their own. My point wasn't to put my Mustang up against your Subaru or vice-versa. Rather it was to attempt to explain what should be a set of obvious reasons that this thread hasn't been received well here.

Evidently, that's going to be overlooked, so I have nothing else to say.

i almost got hit by some ****** driving their car the other day, and a couple days before that i almost got hit by someone else not paying attention. should i start hating all cars and people who drive cars now because i've had a couple of close calls? ive also almost hit somebody riding their bike because they werent paying attention and crossed the street illegally. i guess i should hate all people who ride bikes too. sounds like great logic to me.

Don't read much, do you? Or is it that you just don't comprehend very well?

*I* am neither against cars, nor their off-topic use here as a "common interest" topic. Post 'em, I don't care. However, given the subject matter of *this* forum and the views on cars by a good number of regular posters on *this* forum, don't act all surprised and get all emo when the thread isn't well received.

i've been hit by a car of no fault of my own.

and i still say there's nothing wrong with cars, they're something wrong with drivers, road and city planning, inefficiency in design(or lack of design) and laziness.

inside of those parameters, ANYONE will still need a car for certain things in certain areas. nothing wrong with having one as long as it's on the more sensible end. subarus are definitely on the more sensible end of things.
