*You* used "peddle" instead of "pedal". Peddle means "to sell". I know literacy is hard but you should give it a try sometime.

tip: when someone provides a link, click it. there's usually helpful and relevant info inside!
also: keep in mind, you're kinda dumb and out of touch with things not published by TSR; if you're disagreeing with someone, they're usually 1) smarter than you, and 2) aware of something you're not!

i suppose i can add "inept moron" to the "nerd" and "annoying" list, eh?

Tip: use proper words and their correct spelling, and there'll be no need to CYA. Besides, there is NOTHING that BikeSnobNYC can say that will make "peddle" an appropriate substitution for "pedal".

Just FYI? TSR has been out of business for... gads, like 10 years now. They were bought by Wizards of the Coast and dissolved.

it was a reference, you geek. one that you missed, spent four posts obfuscating, and are still yet to grasp.

reference. you missed it. you're a nerd, no one likes you-- esp. me. let's agree to pretend you don't exist.

I've ridden a century on my FG in the hill, and on the flats. I find it easier than my geared bike on the flats, but in the hills/mini-mountains it can be brutal.

Just make sure you have fuel/water and don't push too hard to begin with, you'll be fine. As long as you avoid bonking you'll be able to ride that far, just take more time to do it.

Hahahah! You're still so cute when you're frustrated.

I know you can do better, though. I mean, c'mon, calling me a nerd and a geek? That's like calling you illiterate or saying that President Bush has made a few mistakes. Talk about an understatement. And even fifth-graders can throw down with better slams than, "no one likes you, waaah!"

Of course, you could just admit that you have the spelling aptitude of a fifth-grader, what with your "sike" and "peddle" and whatnot.

+1 for play on words (while CLEARLY acting "dumb" about it).
+1 for (some) internet users having a grasp of the English language, and having fun with it to boot.

Moral of the story? Don't get upset at others if you can't write your native tongue.

Hey, it's not our fault that you have a horrible command of the written word. Or that you don't appropriately credit your sources when you quote them.

Again, I know literacy is hard but it's worthwhile. I highly recommend you try it.

it is, however, your fault that you're a moron and incapable of comprehending so much as a two page thread on an internet forum. and no, i'm not playing your little game.

It's the hills that will test you. If your gearing is low, climbing is easier but the descent won't be as fun. If your gearing is high, well, the climb becomes more challenging.

That said, I've ridden my singlespeed a little over 80 miles on a recent ride. It's not uncommon to hear of century rides on a FG/SS.

it's that much more rewarding, too. and let's remember, the more you suffer the stronger you get.

to get back on topic, I agree that its largely about gearing and your terrain. just ride as much as you can and you'll be surprised how quickly you build up endurance and strength.

are you curious because you plan on commuting a far distance?

Maybe so. But at least my smileys are prefaced by proper English, including capitalization. That said, you did use the correct form of "you're". You should get a banana sticker for that!

I would not want to jump to an all day ride if I've only been doing short distances. I have been doing 20-30 mile rides for months and a 50 miler last week hurt. With practice you could do very long rides.
