Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

And "venti"?

(also, it's latte)

Almost overnight, the South became blanketed with Starbucks. I swear they must've trucked the stores in over the weekend or something. There must be ten of them here in Huntsville alone.

I cannot believe nobody has yet let Peabodypride in on Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Unbelievably tasty, unbelievably bad for you. Fun to watch the dough float down the river of grease, then slide under the waterfall of sugar.
Iced Coffee is fake? I can't live any longer!!!!!!!

Texas, I think, is still a smoker's hold-out. Half the restaurant is smoking and enclosed in glass; the other half is not smoking.

But I remember my Pediatrician's office smelling like cigarette smoke when I was a youngin, and I remember the ashtray on his desk. (My Pediatrician's office!) So, it is not that way anymore. But I still think that in the South, it is an unspoken rule (and perhaps a subconscious rule). Just think about it.

But, in any case, one shouldn't deprive a Texan of his tall tales.

dude, peabody, he thinks you're a lady because of your picture.
but seriously, if they call you "sugar" and say "ma'am" to you, or "c'mere, pretty-lips," it won't be that much different than the area around Temple, will it?
careful not to post any blatantly false information about yourself on the local internet discussion boards before you go there, or you'll find yourself in a similar situation to the Philly status quo.

No. I don't think so. Just making an observation about my experience there and perhaps adding in just a dash of BS, just enough to make it acceptable internet discussion board material.

A lady indeed. Who thought you weren't female?

Southern ladies are the best! I married one. But I have met quite a few charming women from the North too, that have a kind of, e.g., Minnesotan or Bostonian character to them.

Wow I didnt even know that place was there. That's kinda out of town a little. Never go over there.
There have been some decent shops in downtown over the years. I got my first real 20" on main street. There was a Cumberland Transit right next to the theatre till sometime in the late 80s i guess.

Id start a Nashville fixed site if there were more than 10 riders.

i think the person that said the larger cities are islands of normal people said it best. I was born here in Huntsville but have very few southern tendencies (no accent, don't prefer sweet tea).
