Heh, the best part of that article, and the only thing that redeems him is this:

"... As the police gathered the mounds of bikes, they also found cocaine, crack cocaine, about 15 pounds of marijuana and a stolen bronze sculpture of a centaur and a snake in battle."

Jabba Degrassi 08-21-08 07:39 PM

There has been dancing in the street.

deathhare 08-21-08 10:57 PM

There's gonna be one helluva police auction coming up.

SinVoz 08-21-08 11:02 PM

you're not kidding!! Judging by his snazzy art taste, it might be worth attending.

tx_what_it_do 08-21-08 11:04 PM

someone should set that dude on fire

oh wait that's unethical

generally the toronto police auctions off confiscated items through ebay (http://stores.ebay.ca/Police-Auctions-Canada), but given the amount of bikes they're probably going to do a lot auction or an event, not online sales.

i could never figure out where the money goes, so if you're prone to compunctions of conscience or your morals demands some feel-good ending, you might be SOL. normally i'd in that boat, but who knows what treasures the troll has stashed away...

beeftech 08-22-08 12:25 AM

Looks like they already have some of the bikes on there.

roastbeef 08-22-08 01:44 AM

the crack cocaine is a nice touch.

bckpck2rev 08-22-08 02:19 AM

He was stock piling (bikes) for when oil ran out, likes it's never crossed anyone's mind before...really?

ZiP0082 08-22-08 06:17 AM

he probably should be beaten once with each bike frame he stole

I really do wonder why somebody did not whip up on him. They knew he stold or had bikes stolen. Then go in to get your stolen bike and he demanded money to return the bike to the person who owned it. Looks like someone should have adjsuted him a little bit. :notamused:

It's like crackheads are the only ones who really get the message of Mad Max.

making 08-22-08 06:45 AM

Do you really believe that is why he was stockpiling bikes? I think he was merely a crack head thief that stold bikes.

mcclary 08-22-08 06:57 AM

He could be a crackhead that got hold to the wrong stuff!

His store did get firebombed once. Totally trashed the top floor and killed these vicious pit bulls he used to keep around for when people came to get their bike returned.

He was really careful as he knew how much he was hated, and from what I've heard the guy could scrap. He was a former cop in a soviet state I believe

This explains everything.

NewYorkMantle 08-22-08 07:38 AM

incredible

Jserse 08-22-08 08:19 AM

Same way some people are obsessive compulsive about shop lifting, he loved to steal bikes. Even to the point of having the mentally ill do the dirty work for him. he may be crazy, and by no means do I condone stealing bikes... but he has over 2,500 bikes? stolen? are you kidding me?

I would like to sit in a room a talk with a guy who rents garages around the city to house stolen bikes, that conversation would be interesting!

making 08-22-08 08:21 AM

Just another thief. Like talking to a car thief. Sounds like he made a lot of money. Probably jsut a greedy basurd.

That was so he could pay his army of crackhead bike thieves in crack. Cuts out the middle-man.

So that's where my Centaur vs Snake sculpture went.
