Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Bikes: How'd I get this many?

Okay, haven't been able to look through this thread in detail, but is Tomity's video in here? I have watched it before - kind of a short documentary on him, his riding, his training.

If it is here, what post? If not, Tomity, it would be great to post that video in this thread. I love seeing you spin like mad when training on your rollers between the parallel bars!!

Thanks for all the pictures and information. My trip to Japan was too short and I didn't make it to any keirin races. All the more reason to return sometime soon

Great! pics! Just great! Thanks a ton Tomity!
A cheer for you!

50's Japanese old Keirin racer brake pics.

1950's EVEREST Keirin racer

saddle brake

This was used because of the Roading training.
Traffic was not severe in 1950.
This brake might be for the emergency.

I noticed.
Please look at the number of the spoke of track bike.
Front is 32, and the back is 40.

It's old style!!

His last race started.

He headed for the start gate.

Start gate.

His last Keirin race.

Last race was over.

He did the happiest goal to his wife.

Big television.

A lot of spectators were waiting for them by the Homestretch.

A lot of flower for him.

His Kalavinka bike takes a rest through all eternity.
