What's the fastest you've gone?

...On your fixed gear?

Just curious to know what kind of speeds people are hitting...

bricktopmarv 08-27-08 04:36 AM

bradenCBC 08-27-08 04:38 AM

DarkCloud 08-27-08 04:48 AM

Cruise speed - 32 km/h ~ 20 mph
Flat - 48 km/h ~ 30 mph (for a few seconds anyway :))
Downhill - 56 km/h ~ 35 mph

I'm riding 42/15 with 700x23

Cheers

Normal cruise speed in flat: 33km/h (20,6MPH)
Max speed in flat: 40km/h (25MPH)
Extreme suicidal sprint máx speed in flat: 46km/h (28,75MPH)
Normal Downhill: 50km/h (31,25MPH) (is my limit comfy spin)

46/20 with 650x45B (60,5 gear inches). I love spin.

There are a few hills in Northern Michigan that are pretty nice. I am heading up there this week to ride the DALMAC. Last year I got 202 rpm (on my Garmin) using a 42x16 with 172.5mm. I think that is around 40 mph. Thats pretty mental and I can't take that for long.

Around Grand Rapids there are a few hills I regularly hit 180 rpms on.

I don't even know what I can get in a flat sprint any more...

Flimflam 08-27-08 09:12 AM

Fastest with a downhill aid: 36.6mph (58.8 km/h)

My regular cruising speed range is 17-22, ordinarily keeping around 20mph.

Fastest I've achieved on the flat is 31.1mph (50km/h ish I think)

I run 46/17 on 700x23s. anything over 30mph starts to become pretty uncomfortable after a short while.

Hobartlemagne 08-27-08 09:18 AM

32 mph. I could probably do faster with high gearing on the track, but 32 is my in-town limit.

Yoshi 08-27-08 09:30 AM

52kph sprinting, 40kph sustained (for up to an hour).

R i c h 08-27-08 09:48 AM

Typical flat cruising speed 19-23 mph

Max speed (going downhill) according to my cyclocomputer is 34.2 mph with 46/18 gearing.

I have literally no idea.

Oh, if only I had an idea, I could quit this job and make it big on my own terms...

667 08-27-08 11:42 AM

Between 500-600 mph. But that was on a plane.

Captain Bad 08-27-08 12:12 PM

I did 88mph the day after tomorrow

dddave 08-27-08 12:13 PM

34 mph riding 48/17.

fastest on my road bike was 45 i think.

dookie 08-27-08 05:08 PM

42mph with a 46/16, or ~190rpm. it wasn't pretty, but i stayed up.

sential 08-27-08 05:23 PM

there are some pretty good speeds in here...

I hit 35 yesterday downhill,

but yeah I think the fastest I hit on flat was 28.

caloso 08-27-08 05:24 PM

32.5 mph on a flat. 42x16. Legs spinning like an egg beater.

i r yo 08-27-08 06:35 PM

A guy in a car last night randomly yelled out that I was going almost 35mph.

whalesalad 08-27-08 07:16 PM

~29 next to my buddy on his motorcycle on flat ground 44x17

I think we broke 30 while I was drafting him and he kept slowly speeding up but can't remember :P

iwegian 08-27-08 07:19 PM

i was cruisin at 20~ mph tonight with 44/16 free. i actually suprised my self because any riding i've done before that has been putting around campus at ~8 mph. i also got a set of $10 flip/chops for my effort. :)

AaronAnderson 08-27-08 08:26 PM

I did about 43mph on my fixie. 46x16. I know, sounds insane right? You should have seen me though. I was going down this big hill and my feet were straight out in front of me and the expression on my face was that of "I'm about to die a painful death" with my poor little front brake smoking like there was no tomorrow.

true story.
