Nalgene bottle cage
Anyone know were I can find a Nalgene style bottle cage? I have a ton of these, and would be nice to carry one on the bike and not bungee it to the bars.
|
Are you referring to the size of the bottle? These work with oversized bottles....

yeah, about the size. Anyone have a nalgene and a oversize water bottle they could compare the diameter of for me. I don't have a oversize water bottle.

like this one? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...f460f5db3b.jpg

Nalgene Diameter: 35/8" or 92mm
Standard bottle diameter: 27/8" or 73mm I once emailed Surly to see if they would produce one. They felt a Nalgene would be too wide to fit in between the cranks. |
These work very nice for oversized bottles since you can bend them open.

But the cage bolts are higher on the downtube then the cranks reach? Just measured, and even if the cage sat so low, it would still fit. Maybe on surly frames the bolts are closer to the BB shell. On my Pugsley the seat tube ones are, but the downtube ones are clear. still 102mm space between the cranks. |

A bottle that takes both hands to open seems like a bad idea on a bike.
This is where those mad no-handed skidding skilz come into play. |
nalgene = cancer bottle :O
|
Nalgene sounds like something you get from a cheap hooker, and not what you were looking to get from a cheap hooker.
Steel is real, if you can't afford a double wall aluminium bottle or a Siig? bottle, those are nice |

i thought you just get higher levels of estrogen haha

Nalgene makes bottles for cycling, you know that? It's the soft plastic with a polycarbonate dome to keep muck out of the mouthpiece. Nice.

Bottles with a recycling code of 7 (polycarbonate) are bad for you, Nalgene's squishy white bottle is made of 2 (high density polyethylene), which is fine. Now the studies which set off this Nalgene scandal proved that it takes seriously volatile chemicals to set off the leaching of BpA, bleach, fire, scrubbing w/steel wool, boiling water, steel cleaner, days baking in the sun, storing water for weeks, etc. Otherwise the amount leached is less than you'll absorb handling new rug for a day.
Also, who's wearing unbreakable glasses? (I am) Your reading this through polycarbonate! Who's smelled "new car smell"? You've DRENCHED yourself in BpA + other cancer causing agents. New rugs smell? New paint? Salad in a plastic box? We are living in a soup of cancer causing stuff. What's in that nasty taste our bike bottle make? I don't know either. Who here smokes? I admit I use my 7pc bottle much less often than the 2hdpe bottle, I intend on going stainless, but that's mostly to make my Myata 912 look awesome. |
Well... I know about all the bad from them, I just like anyway. Smoking give you cancer too, but how many here smoke...?
the two handed thing. I know, but I normally stop to drink anyway. This is just my townie, not use for long epic rides. I have a few of the nalgene bike bottles, but use them most on my roadie and mountie. |
Smoking doesn't do any harm, that's just the anti-tobacco lobby crying wolf yet again, bloody peasants. In fact you can acheive good health with a good smoking regiment, at least once in the morning, after each and every meal and once before you sleep.
It's hard at first as anything good can be. Initially you feel woozy and may gag but if you do it for 8 weeks and then stop smoking for 3 weeks (to under-stimulate the lungs lest they become too powerful for your diaphragm, akin to taking time off of the bicycle before a big race) you will be amazed at how good you feel at the end of those 3 weeks before you begin your next smoking regiment. |

worse comes to worse you could make a pouch out of duct tape

My friend once started making and selling home-made cages for nalgenes. Then the whole summer went downhill when we realized that they fit fortys too.
