Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Wow! sometimes good things happen......

Hello all,
just wanted to share a quick story....
A buddy of mine recently left his garage door open, then had his bike jacked. This was a bike that he rode the ****e out of so he was pretty sick about it....funny thing is he had a classic gitane road bike right next to it. This bike was a Marin comfort bike.

Anyway over a week goes by and he's mowin' the lawn, from a distance he can see a young kid peddeling a bike towards him with another friend of ours following close behind in his car.

Turns out out friend recognized the bike and because the kid was so small knew it wasn't his bike. So he stops the kid and asked where he got the bike. Kid says he found it. So our friend told him to peddle it to my buds house.

Long story alittle shorter my bud got his bike back and then drove the kid home and talked to his mother. Mother claimed kid found the bike in a vacant lot. So my friend let it slide.

Just goes to show that if you and others keep an eye out every once and awhile you get your stuff back.

well, that response was a little over the top.....

Yeah, good things do happen to people every so often. The same thing happened to one of my friends (she lived in the apartment across from mine)

her crappy beach cruiser beater bike got stolen, and she was walking to class a few days later and saw this girl on it with her boyfriend (who also lived in the apartment complex)

after a little while of threatening the guy with charges (and a little help from the local police) she got her bike back. (sorry to threadjack, just thought that it would be good to hear that there are some other good stories like yours)
