Ive been toying with the idea of replacing the stock saddle on my Maddy with a green Brooks Pro I have but havnt done it because I thought the green wouldnt look very good, now that I see the brown Brooks on your Madison I see they dont look bad! Not at all! I think Ill give it a shot Please try to avoid looking at the "clutter" behind the bike unless you think Im trying to show off my stuff

OK, advice time. I have really big hips - I'm 6'-3", 250 and really broad. (Think: football player, and also kinda fat.) The only comfy saddle I've found so far is my 155mm wide Specialized Avatar.
With my big hips, would I still want a B-17 even if I have 3" or so of saddle to bar drop?
The imperial's cutout looks interesting, but am I too heavy for it?

i can't wait until i can get my hands on an imperial.
on a side note, i saw a Wrights saddle at my LBS that looks like a brooks swallow. anyone know anything about these? i looked them up, and it seems they were owned by brooks for sometime. I also can't tell how old it is, although it looks brand new.

I test rode the brooks further. the results:
0-2 miles: feels a little weird! but good. kinda odd fitting, reminds me of sitting on a park swingset.
10 miles: ok, trying to feel out that spot the butt bonez is supposed to rest on...
20 miles: god. jeezus. this thing. it feels suddenly uncomfortable! I must be sitting on the rivets or something.
In the end I felt that I hadn't mounted it correctly at the start. I set the saddle just a tad further back and tilted the nose upward slightly.
it seems to accommodate things better and I don't feel like sliding off the seat now. 20 miles, so far so good.

Brooks are also good if you don't like them. Most of the brooks saddles I've seen selling on ebay, some in not so pristine condition, have been going for a nice chunk of change for a used saddle. Of course the same can be said for expensive saddles e. g. selle Italia, selle San Marco, et cetera.

it seems everyone (who wants to be viewed as super hip), even my best pal, is buying into the brooks craze. i feel people used to get em for 10 bucks at yard sales for thier conversions but now young hipsters are buying them for top dollar. from my experience on road bikes and in a high end road bike shop, people (including myself) seem to think a nice sam marco, italia, fizik... saddle does the trick. im wondering why every hipster is spending $120 and up for an old style leather saddle. they seem outdated to me. people rave about thier comfort, ive never ridden one, but are they really as good as a modern racing saddle that people who ride all day in the saddle up the alps use? can someone back me up and just help me feel im not wrong in thinking that a new italia flite is as coumfy as a b17 and that a flite is lighter and uses more modern technology. any help?
Remember, friends don't let friends troll and please don't troll and drive. This has been a public service message. Thank you.

Your Madison inspired me to get a ss. I had been considering it a while but yours pushed me over the edge. That is ONE handsome bike. I'm actually getting a different brand but yours is cool without being over the top. Very classy looking rig.

I love my Brooks saddles (B17 and Swallow). I don't like the break in process when they're all slippery. I've found that softer saddles hurt my ass a hell of a lot more than a really firm Brooks. I don't do marathon rides but I've put in 60+ miles in a day and I'm grateful to have had the Brooks to get me through it. They're about firm support and I weigh 250 and they handle me just fine.
