More stickies please
When I open this board up, all I see are stickies. It's obscene.
Weed the crap out. I'm sure there's 2 or 3 things up there that you guys can live without.
MODERATOR EDIT-
THIS STICKY WILL REMAIN UP FOR A WEEK TO GATHER INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY ON HOW BEST TO UTILIZE THE STICKY FEATURE. PLEASE KEEP YOUR COMMENTS CIVIL OR I WILL DELETE YOUR POST.

Like the "gearing primer" that can really be merged with the "resource thread" that is ironically also completley worthless.

I'd definitely vote to merge the gearing sticky into the resource thread. I also feel if people want to moan about the resource thread, they should offer up suggestions rather than just vague complaints.
As for Sheldon's thread, I think it's probably ready to unsticky. It went almost a month there with no new posts. Besides, there's no danger of people forgetting him or his site even without that sticky.

I'll let 65er deal with his sticky personally.
I unstuck the Sheldon thread as well. If someone wants to undertake the task of compiling information for the resource thread, let me know and I will be happy to work with you. Yapping and moaning never gets you anywhere in life and certainly not here. We all like proactive individuals.

i don't know about getting rid of the gearing sticky... for a while it seemed like half the threads here were someone asking what gearing they should have for their conditions. and all the answers each time were almost always identical - half insults, half the same info in that sticky. if the sticky gets rid of half of those threads than i'm all for it.
also, i vote to sticky this thread

I'm just worried about the constant stream of "should I get a Sparton or a Pake?" and "how can I make a fg w/ vertical dropouts" threads. Threads about frame selection and redundant build/conversion questions occupy much of the forum, and the links to the budget frames thread and Sheldon's site could head off a lot of rehashing. On the other hand, the remaining topics in the resource sticky are frankly far less frequently revisited. Alleycat mania and sewing patterns seem (at last) to have died down a bit. Maybe a pared-down resource sticky and/or one more specifically titled than "read this first." If "choosing a frame," "gearing," and "building a fg" were in the title, that might make it more useful.

Maybe we should call it "Everything You Need To Know About Riding a Fixed gear".. or we could just post a permanent link to Sheldon brown's website.
The resource thread and the gearing primer are both getting a good number of hits which makes me thin they are somewhat valuable and may be reducing the number of reptitive questions we see while providing good information.
