Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

skidding on colored tires is awesome!

i have some blue tires and i found out today that they skid blue. may sound tarcky, but skidding on fixed gears reminds me of when i was a kid and had a bmx bike with a coaster brake and used to do tons of skid everywhere

I've just discovered skidding on my Coda via skillful application of the rear brake. It's fun.

at that point, i didn't race it. it was a cheap dyno. actually not even sure it was a bmx, but the bike had a coaster brake.

Considering how durable colored rubber is, enjoy it while you can.

Cross tires? There are also some roadies with more "bite."

I watched today as local downtown messengers were seeing how far they could leave a skid mark until one of their tires blew. The rainbow skid they layed down was cool.
