I gave up on geared road bikes and am back to what I prefer - fixed gear. I got this for my long distance weekend rides while the Redline 925 does commuting duty.

I bought this new, retail, and stripped pretty much everything off of it and replaced the stock stuff with parts I had kickin' around along with some new gear.

It's a lot lighter than the 925 and rides smoother.

Looks nice, what hubs are those open pros laced to? Be a ***** and remove that right lever (the actual lever) if you have them to ride on the hoods (that is, leave the hood). Maybe cut down the fork by a spacer? It's likely putting some negative stress on that headset...

Hubs are Phil Wood, low flange front 28H. Rear is 32H high flange.

I am going to look into removing the lever, but if it's a pain I'll just leave it since it does not rattle and gives me something to flip whenever I want to jam with the tunes.

Would love to remove some of the spacers, came stock that way. I really don't like it like that, but it seems the frame is designed so they didn't have to use a tall head tube but knew most people wouldn't want a 10" drop to the bars. As it is now, I have a 3" drop which is exactly what I need. I suppose I could get a high rise stem and knock it down some if I run in to problems. I've no experience with stress to the headset so don't really know what to expect. The steerer tube is carbon and I wonder if that will hold up to the grinds up long hills over time?

Those levers look like the Cane Creek SCR-5? I love them because they're compatible with Campy and Shimano brake systems. Oh, I said wh.ore, which is apparently blocked so don't feel like I was calling you something much worse.

A carbon steerer tube is different to cut but can be done. I guess Jamis just puts a lot of spacers on their forks, I bought a bike for my girlfriend that had 60mm of spacers. If you want to play with spacing you could always just drop the stem down and put a spacer on top if it (knocking off 20mm). But if it works, why change it? The Sputnik last year came with an EC70 fork, so I wonder if they kept it but repainted it for this year?

Correct on the levers. I use them on all my single speed bikes and think they are great especially for the price. I considered the Campy record levers for this build, but just couldn't justify the ~$180 for them.

I don't think the fork is an ec70. I saw last years model at the shop where I bought mine and the forks looked quite a bit different.

I really like the sputnik's. I kinda wish I had bought one.
