Willaimsburg Bridge/Delancy Cops?

Anyone cross the Williamsburg Bridge today and happen to notice cop cars parked ON the bike path as well as posted up at the bottom?

Also, last night there was a huge cop van and car on the bike path. I thought someone had been hurt, but there was no ambulance.

Any clues as to what the deal is?

you could ask, but i doubt you want to be tasered or tackled off your bike. it's probably some phony bologna "police business".

How high is the bridge? Maybe it has to do with the bail-out being rejected...

Last night I saw a string of about 20 (no exageration) police cars crossing the bridge into manhattan with their lights on. There have been cop cars parked on and driving on the bike / pedestian path pretty frequently lately. 4 occassions in the past week that I have encountered..

yeah, i saw something similar on broadway downtown a couple of weeks ago. they took up the entire road and ran through all the lights. huge caravan of cops. not an emergency because they weren't going too fast.

i don't know what they do stuff like that for... if it's a show of power or whatever.

I am happy to say that over the past year that I have been riding your wheels I have had no downtime due to wheel problems. These wheels are as true today as a year ago when I put them on my bike and as an instructor, they have received, not only the daily patrol abuse, but also the added abuse of doing 10 schools over the past year....I would recommend these wheels to any Police Bike Unit. They are dependable, strong, lightweight and require no maintenance. Oh, one more plus, they look cool.........

You know what the NYPD is trying to do? I am not joking at all. I have a friend in the NYPD. He told me when cop cars line up and drive all of the city, it is called "Show of Force." The purpose of this (believe it or not) is to scare away terrorist. This "Show of Force" thing has started after 9/11. Before 9/11 you wouldn't have seen this.

Wow.
This statement, (if true) shows just how out of touch, desparate, and basically helpless we are in our "war" on terrorism.

I used to see NYPD putting together one of these "show of force" things at Columbus Circle every once and a while. They sat there for like an hour getting all the patrol cars together and then headed out. Here's a couple of youtube clips if you're wondering what it looks like:

lol, cause nothing quells public fear like hundreds of cops everywhere, pretending there's an emergency.

its pretty pathetic, but its really just their version of critical mass.
