Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Bikes: a bunch

newbie

Hi folks,

Found this forum awhile back, lurked for awhile and decided to join up. I've been riding a long time. Raced about everything you can around here but the last couple of years I just ride (mtb race once in awhile). Kind of got tired I guess. I have a Surly 1x1, cross check and last year I built up a SteamRoller. I also have a Fuji track. Probably like the rest of you I got fed up with everyone thinking they needed the latest techno crap to ride. Plus a nice SS or Fixie just looks so good and feels so good. That and they're so quiet. I've also got multi-geared bikes but they don't get much use anymore. Anyway that's my story. I hope to learn some stuff here.

Thanks for the welcome. This place has some real interesting threads. I like the general attitude. I'd post some pix if I had any. Maybe I'll get a digi cam one of these days. Trying to save up some money in case Brooks comes out with the new "Swallow" saddle. It doesn't look like they're going to be cheap!

Don't worry about Skitbra, he is a figment of his own imagination only.

Sounds like quite a stable in Witchita. Welcome aboard and look forward to seeing some pics when you get around to it!

Bikes: Can't stand the damn things...

Of all the bike forums on the internet, you picked this one? Well then, as chairman of the welcoming comittee, it is my honor and privilege to extend this Laurel and Hardy handshake to the town's new... UNCLECHET.

Thanks 165, I've got a few bikes but I've been at it so long they just kind of accumulate. Know what I mean. They're a lot cheaper than some sports/hobbies. And better for you to boot.

I guess that makes 165 the nightmare/stranger danger that my mom always warned me about... a man who would try to get me into his van.

Thanks lucklust, I don't think I've ridden 585 miles in a month! That must have been something.
