girls helmet options

(disclaimer: in 2 browsers, i can't get the search to work this afternoon)

I'm looking for some options of "cuter" helmets to buy my girlfriend for her birthday, so that she won't feel so roadie-looking when riding. Some of the Bern ones might be cool, though ideally something similar to this: https://yakkay.com/ might be even better, however they don't have any US retailers. The helmet is mainly for casual riding around the city, not centuries or anything where aerodynamics would need to be considered.

(Yakkay)

Do you guys have any ideas, or other brands in mind? The reason I don't want to just go ahead and buy something internationally online is due to my girlfriend not being able to try it on first in that scenario.

Thanks!

Just get a regular road helmet. Ruining your hair for the day is why we hate helmets, and a road helmet has enough vents to sortof alleviate the problem. BMX helmet is the worst and this is from experience.

+1 on regular road helmet. Skate/bmx helmets suck unless it's winter.
It's not about aerodynamics, it's about comfort and weight. I too have tried wearing a skate helmet, and it made me miserable.
And that Yakkay crap looks ********. Do you really want your girlfriend to look like Mayim Bialik?

Definitely have her go with you, and have her try on a bunch of different brands.
Different brands of helmets fit different, and different girls have differently sized heads. Some people are Bell people, some people are Giro people, and some people don't care. They do fit differently, personally I find Bell very uncomfortable and prefer Giro.
I'd say if price is no limit, Giro Pneumo or Catlike

thanks for the testimonials. it sounds like the only way to do it is to hit a few stores in a day and see what's the most tolerable, in terms of comfort vs. aesthetics.

I have both a road helmet and a bern. I bought the bern and rode it a long time, then inherited a road helmet which I found to be much, much better. Then I lost it (drunk), now I'm back to the sh*tty-*ss bern, which I give two thumbs down.

I like skate helmets, and some of them are quite low-profile and stylish. The Bell Faction line is good for avoiding the mushroom-head look. I'm not crazy about their pretentious sk8ter-punk tattoo designs, but they have solid colours as well (and one cute girly one with flowers and a clockwork bird).

good call, those do look like a good in-between option.
