Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Dawes SST vs. Origin 8 Uno

How does the CL bike in the link below compare to a new Dawes SST singlespeed?

It's got a better saddle and tires than the Dawes. Better headset and probably BB. It's got extra bars, stem, and saddle.

I wonder what kind of cranks those are?

I can't really make a recommendation without an asking price and a description of the wheelset.

he is asking $375

The wheels that come with those are formula/Alex DC19

F***!!!

Called this am to check out the bike. Said I was really interested in the bike. Told "sure, great, come on by". He gives directions, mentions purple HHR is parked in front of house, etc. I drive an hour into Chicago, spot the SSR, right address; no answer at the door! I call, and the dude answers that he sold it "about 20 minutes ago". Let me get this right...the car is there, you just sold the bike, you're "going to be home all day" and nobody answers the door. WTF!!!! I AM REALLY PIS*ED OFF!
