Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Question regarding frameset

I am looking at a frameset to buy to build as a ss. The frameset I'm looking at states:

"bottom bracket is english threaded;

seatpost 27.2 should be used;

rear spacing is 130mm.;

fork is 1 1/8 threadless"

My question is will this work well for a single speed? It may be "normal" but since they made a point to spell it out I wasn't sure.

Thanks,

you're missing the most crucial info; what the rear drops / ends look like.

read here for explanation: https://sheldonbrown.com/fixed-conversion.html#vertical

If it's just a single speed it can have vertical dropouts. You'll just need a one of those little gadgets to tension it.

Good point, it's a Volpe, which has horizontal droupouts I believe. As far as the other stuff goes (bottom bracket is english threaded; seatpost 27.2 should be used; rear spacing is 130mm, fork is 11/8 threadless) is that okay?

Thanks for the info.

Those are all common sizes and will be easy to find parts for.
