Bay Area Fixies
I just got an e-mail about my post on the Fixed Gear Bicycle Gallery. It basically asks if I'd be willing to organize a group-ride for fixies in Marin. I could probably convince OneTinSloth to come (if he's not too busy hanging out with the critical massers). Is anyone else down? If so, what kind of mileage would you like to aim for? I've got some great loops, from 16 mile flat runs all the way up to the 125 thigh-burning-sado-masochistic-sticking-a-red-hot-spoke-in-my-left-eyeball-would-be-more-fun loop.
Let me know...
p.s. I'm hoping we'll have more luck organizing a ride than those friggin Chicagoans are having!!! Losers

maybe a fixed century??
I'm definately interested and think 100 miles would be a good distance, have done lotsa centuries geared, but have never done one fixed and already was planning to do one this year. FWIW I know a fairly flat century route in Sonoma Co. that would work well (start/finish in Cotati), but further south would be fine too...

I'd like to join the ride if I had enough notice on the date. Gotta plan around the family.
Do you know any long mileage loops around the City, like through GG park and the beach, etc...

i'd be down. although me getting to marin from berkeley without a car is somewhat of a challenge. hmm...let's see, i could take BART to SF, then bike across the golden gate...or i could take the bus across the bridge (which my gf says takes about an hour each way)...
but yeah, if enough advance-notice was given on the date i'd make a good, honest effort to get there.

same here. just depends when school and stuff is.
i would TOTALLY be down for like a nighttime ride in the city along the marina trail (i think at least?) to the palace of fine arts. or maybe even some nighttime urban thrashing in downtown.
SO, if anyone is down for some nighttime riding, i know onetin always is, i'd be interested in organizing some sf ride through the city like those friday night roller skaters. just after march 29th when school stuff slows down a bit. skid contests at the pier one ferry terminal!

I only know of rides in Marin County. I think the best way to do it is to have two rides. One longer ride up in Marin, and one fun night ride in the city. I think someone who lives in the city will be better suited to set up that ride.
For the Marin county ride, how is March 28th?

March 28th works for me too. What time and where to start... I have to drive anyway (coming from San Bruno) so start location is flexible with me so long as there's parking.

How's about everyone comes to Chicago and gets disorganized here? We seem to do a good job of it. Then we can all not meet, not ride together, and not pick-up Schiek's requested copy of Peggy Cappy's "Yoga for the Rest of Us" video that he PM'd me to see if I could get for him AT BORDERS. Hell, I'll even wear a catboy hat and boots and ride around the city with a bullhorn screaming "MEOW" every three minutes. I think this works.
Everyone should submit a time that works for no one else at which we cannot meet. In addition, please submit your own route that no one else can ride. I think that should jus about get everything up and running.

Ok, it sounds like we're on for the 28th (stinkyonions... you, onetinsloth and I should ride some other time then). We can meet at the Larkspur ferry terminal at 11am (that's negotiable). I'll have some routes planned, and we can take a vote for which one we'll ride. We'll finish up at the terminal, which just happens to be across the street from the brew-co.
OneTinSloth, I'll give you directions... the bus across the bridge will drop you off just over the hill from the terminal... hell, I could probably just meet you at the bus stop.
Let me know if you have any other good ideas

OK, sounds good to me, and I could make an earlier start time (say 9 or 10?) if that works for others

that works for me....
will be there, should be a great ride, especially if the 80 degree weather holds out. BTW, riding down to S.F. (maybe w/ a visit to American Cyclery?? (fixed gear specialists)) and returning on the ferry might be an option, I know the route and the city well, used to live (and messenger) down there....or a Marin loop would be great too. Anyway we can decide on a route on the 28th as you said, see you there, and thanks much for putting the ride together...
