trying to take off my crankset and was just wondering if i need a certain crank puller or if any crank puller will do

There are different pullers for different kinds of bb, I know ISIS and Square taper crank pullers are different.

My BB is square tapered
So will I be good just getting any crank puller made for square tapered BBs?

if you have a square taper BB and don't have funny cranks (like stronglight) then a standard crank puller will work fine.

The park ccp-2 will work fine for the vast majority of square taper cranks:

protip: for those of you like me who are: a. cheap, b. inventive, and c. already in possession of a square taper BB puller, you can sand down a dime to sit flush on the ISIS BB and thread the normal puller onto your ISIS cranks.

Yeah emailed my local bike shop and they said that's what I need so I'll be picking one up tommorow

real cheap, since i got once of these for $5. i'd rather shell out the $5 than sand down a dime, but that's just me.
