Which tires are these? Pic

Anyone know which tires these are?

I like the red/colored sidewalls.

Thanx

prolly conti gatorskins

darksiderising 10-15-08 11:02 AM

I think they are Specialized Armadillo tires, judging by the logo. They are pretty similar to Conti Gatorskins, which I like better.

alheim 10-15-08 12:57 PM

I doubt they're Gatorskins because they only come in black. Armadillos is a good guess.

What's the difference b/t the folding and non-folding Gatorskins?

caloso 10-15-08 01:05 PM

I believe they are Armadillos. Good puncture protection, not the lightest or supplest tire you'll find.

i have an armadillo on my rear wheel, but want to change it out for a gatorskin, due to weight.

caloso 10-15-08 02:04 PM

Nor is it good for skidding, if you're into that sort of thing. It has a fairly soft rubber compound over a hard plastic liner. If you lock up your wheel, it'll rub that soft rubber right off .

But you can safely run them flat in emergencies.

Looks like the Michelin Pro 3 Race tires also have colored sidewalls (as opposed to just colored stripes that aren't on the sidewalls):

only 23mm's though

I always felt that they wore down a little too quickly and gave a wooden feeling when the pressure was too high. I usually ride with about 100 psi in my tires but I kept the Armadillos at about 90 psi or so.

Brvn 10-15-08 10:39 PM

That bike is georgous. I'm in love.... Is IRO a good brand? I'm just getting into fixed gears and I'm so overwhelmed by all the different manufactures! I've tried checkign out the stickies but they're still so overwhelming.

You my friend, have a lot to learn and to look forward to. I would like to take this opportunity to be the first to introduce to you Mr. Sheldon Brown's article, Fixed Gear for the Road. Read and enjoy and try to not stay up all night and one day **you also** can build your own bike from scratch.

Edit: I also would like to suggest to you that you use the Search function of the forums, as pretty much everything has been discussed at one point or another and the archives are an invaluable resource. It helps to narrow your search down to the Singlespeed and Fixed Gear subforum.
