Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? So much better with a normal wheelset.

I just can't get behind a tri-spoke tubular in the front and an aero clincher in the back. It reminds me too much of an arrospok-and-a-deep-v.

Pretty sure they were both tubbies. And your analogy is no where near accurate.

Observe the original picture closely and you'll see that the rear tire is a Michelin. Michelin does not manufacture tubular tires. So unless he decided to reinforce a clincher with glue in the front, he's got a tubular and a clincher.

I don't think my analogy is at all inaccurate. Instead of an Aerospoke and a Formula+Deep-V, this guy had the money to buy what appears to be a HED3 and a home-made carbon wheel fairing. Three spokes vs. Five, deep carbon vs. kinda-deep aluminum.

Saddle, flask holder and handgrips would've been plenty of leather. The tube covers go WAY over the top.

Nice bike, though.

Of course. Even though those Vanillas have been linked-to in this thread about a half-dozen times, apparently, one can never have enough of them.

Unless that wheel is dished the it's the wrong application of that style of lacing but he'll find that out eventually. And why in the h3ll did he alternate the spokes on the radial side.
