Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Fuji Berkeley... possible ss/fg conversion??

I scored one at a thrift shop for $40 with absolutely no rust on the frame and for the most part, nicely working components. I bought it intending to convert it. Anybody have any experience w/ this bike?? Questions/comments/suggestions??

here is one already converted on the exact frame that i have:

lemme know what you think!
Thanks,
Pat

I have a converted Fuji Grand tourist that looks pretty similar, maybe older. Ugly seatstay welds, no shifter braze-ons, but really nice forged Suntour rear dropouts w/ no derailer hanger. It's a great conversion candidate. I love how mine rides.
