Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

New to SS - got a minute?

got bored with riding the bus/driving to class this semester, after checking my various options i decided that a singlespeed was the best option for zipping around campus (Virginia Tech, anyone?). that said, i started doing some research and have come down to a few options for a first bike. i know i want at least a front brake and and not gonna ride fixed for the time being, this is what i've come up with

from what i've read it's a good bike, but i know i'll need a freewheel. i'm not gonna take a chance and buy one on my own, can somebody point me in the right direction? also, i'm just about 6'4" with a 36" inseam, so will a 60cm frame be a good fit? i've seen geometry charts that put me anywhere from 60-63cm, so i want another opinion.

and by all means, if you can think of another bike in the same vein, reply with that also.

thanks a lot!
