flat

When I leave my bike out in the sun I get a flat on only my front tire. Allready figured out a good solution (don't leave my bike out in the sun). I was just wondering what could cause this.

Enough to increase 15-20 lbs of pressure in the tube?

Also always happens in the same spot. Has happened two or three times.

Sounds like a bad tube. Sitting in the sun shouldnt cause flats

+1

Change your tube. It could also be your valve.

Bikes: Trek 1000, two mtbs and working on a fixie for commuting.

If you've have more than one flat in the same spot in relation to the rim, you might want to check your rim.

This is really a question to ask on a bike forum? Seriously you didn't imagine that your tire is losing pressure cause there's a leak somewhere? The simplest answer didn't phase you, you narrowed it down to leaving your bike out in the sun . . .

This forum has officially sunk to a new low . . . .screw it i'm gonna go ride my bike now the internet has angered me!

sounds like there's something stuck on your tire. I swapped tubes 3 times before finding out that there was a staple lodged in the inside of the tire.

Guess I was'nt clear enough. I have switched the tube three times. All of the times a new hole appears in the same spot that leaves the tire completely flat. Has only happened when I go in for work and leave it out on a SUNNY DAY. Checked the rim for anyhting sharp and have found nothing. Just wondering if the heat could cause htis or if I might have a spoke that is damaged or something I just dont get.

Well it's clearly not a tube issue if you've changed them and it still happens. Try rotating the tire from the front to the back. This will narrow the problem down to either the tire or the rim. If the rear goes flat then it's the tire, if the front goes flat then it's the front rim.

How's your rim tape looking?

Feel the inside of the tire for a piece of glass or something poking through.

I am just going to try new tape. Its not a puncture through the tire but facing the rim. The spot where I was getting punctures the tape looks worn. So yeah thats probably it. I was really only wondering why the sunny days would seem to cause this but fukit doesnt really matter I suppose

He said rim not tire. I think there's a difference?
