what bottom bracket should I get for use with a Sugino zen messenger chainring/crank set ?

That's the one you want for that crankset. But your hub & cog choice might come into play here also.

saving money- always nice... I'll be good with a 16t cog? 46x16? I was thinking about maybe 18t cog?
