that last picture is exactly what i had in mind. If i were to atempt this i would just sand down the top corner instead of the whole side wall. and that seems that it would hold up alright, but i prolly wont do it.

I just did a similar thing to my wheels. I just used a DA sander with some 180 on it to get the majority of the machining down, then 220 and 3(something) followed up by a polish job. All I did was make the shape of the rim flow into the machined brake area. Took very little material off and takes very little time.

My 0.2 and IMHO there is no structural integrity lost, especially since I don't do bike tricks.

Sand and polish away dude.

i'm not sure what they are but it's a ***** trying to sand them. oven cleaner is the way to go.

i still cant see why the wheels would look more like velosity. velosity dont have seamless lip. Its much less noticable but its there.

hey guess what? No one looks that closely at your wheels. No one cares. Yeah, deep v's may look better than box section on certain frames but no one is going to **** their pants over your faded lip. And in fact no one will even notice. The only person that will ever notice is a mechanic if you ever take your bike into the shop and then you'll just feel like a tool when they ask you what the **** you did to your rims.

If you're doing it for looks, fine. I don't know why you didn't say so earlier.

I've done all kinds of stupid **** for looks:
-Spray painted seatpost: bad idea. makes it too fat to fit, the paint chips, and winds up in the BB.
-Spray painted hubs: works great. once laced, they barely cantact anything that would chip them.
-Spray painted rims: meh. chips.

Basically all this stuff was parts I got free/cheap, and didn't really care if I ruined. I know to mask off the races, etc.

You're going to go through a lot of work to unlace your wheels, strip the paint (I'd use paint stripper, then sand, then polish.) and relace your wheels. If you're fine with that, go for it. Post pics.

im fine with doing work to my bike i just relaced my front the other day, and now a long term winted project is coming up so im looking what can i do with the new frame im getting.

Easy peasy, just remove a small amount of the lip - flattening that right angle.
