Okay I posted on a local forum frequented by employees of several local bike shops. One gentleman was kind enough to tell me that on the "Pedro's Ordering List" these are simply marked "out of stock - expected in January"

I still have not received a response from Pedros yet. If I hear anything else I'll pass it along because I know we are all full of WANT for this magnificent beast of a tool.

I was waiting for the Park SS-15 to come out, but it looks like I might opt for the Trixie instead. It gives me the option of a lockring wrench just in case. No one lists the length of the Trixie. I am wondering how long it is. The SS-15 is listed as 7" long. The Jethro Tule is only 5" long I think.

i still don;t understand why it's so important to have a bottle opener on all these tools. if you can open a beer with a lighter, you can open a been with any relatively flat, solid object.

You know what I'd like better than a bottle opener? A pedal wrench.

How often do you need to install or remove pedals while you are out riding vs. how often do you enjoy a cold beer?

Pedal wrenches are great to have in the toolbox but I don't think of them as necessary for a 'rescue tool'.

Maybe I have kind of a unique situation, but my tools are 7 floors away from where I keep my bikes. It would be nice to be able to switch pedals before a ride with just the tools I would be packing anyway. Maybe it's kind of a unique situation.

Probably about as often as you'll encounter a beer bottle that doesn't have a twist off top. Or the need to tighten you lockring.

if you can;t open a beer bottle with your teeth, you don't deserve to drink it.

birdt8608 01-03-09 01:38 PM

Whoa... you can even adjust fenders with it. I must have one.

fuggers 01-04-09 07:22 PM

Anyone pick one of these up from the link above?
I have tried to search around a bit, assuming they are out, but couldn't find anything.

The company has a phone #. If you are interested you should call and ask if it's in stock.

I'm still hoping to buy locally as I've purchased a bunch of stuff online lately and I do try to support my LBS's when possible.

HandsomeRyan 01-05-09 12:15 PM

FYI: I just received the following email from Jason Elhardt @ Pedros:

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for your interest. The first production run is on it's way to distributors
now so your local shop should be able to get one in the next few weeks. If you
don't see them soon, please let us know and we can probably help you out.

Cheers.
Jason

i'm bumping this thread to see if anyone has picked one of these up recently, and where they can be had...

jhaber 01-29-09 09:13 AM

Looks pretty sweet but looks too short to provide proper leverage. Out on the road it would be good to have but I don't see using this over a normal chain whip/lock ring tool at home.

you have to drink better beer. domestics have twist off caps, imports and micro brews need an opener. i never leave home with out one!

apprecilove 01-30-09 04:08 PM

HandsomeRyan 01-31-09 03:17 PM

My LBS is trying to order me one. They said their supplier will get some in early February and they'll try to get me one of those.

I can't wait.

admrwe 02-01-09 03:38 AM

i ordered one from a site that said they were in stock but got a "we don't have these yet, we'll ship it out as soon as it comes in" email right away. that was like 2 and a half weeks ago, still waiting.
