Getting a new and smaller frame

I'm currently riding a conversion fixie a friend of mine built up for me.

It's an old 54cm Nishiki frame with vertical dropouts. I plan on buying a new frame this month and so far its looking like the Soma Rush. I was checking out the Leader frames because of the great pricing but they are just too damn ugly.

Anyways, it looks like the Soma Rush isn't coming in 54cm this year? Do you guys think I'll be okay on a 53cm?

I'm 5'8". My bike now fits pretty well but the seat post isn't raised high at all, its level with the bars basically. So maybe a 53cm will be fine?

Thanks!

53 should be good.

remember though, you height and the ST length are not great indicators of fit alone.

with that said, I'm 5'10 and ride a 55cm and it is too big (tt too long). I wish I had a 53cm or my tt was shorter.

They blow, in my opinion. The welds are terrible, the dropouts look like they were designed by a 5 year old, and the 4 inch wide downtubes make you look like a tool.
that being said, aluminum frames can be good.
BlickBlocks has one, you could ask her.

i'm a tad bit under 5'8" and I ride a 53. Not a rush, though. I have real short legs so it was a bit harder to find a frame that would fit.

The accompanying fork. I just finished building it a month ago...love it.

Just remember, track frames have higher bottom brackets, which means their measurements are taller compared to road frames. A 55 road frame might fit you fine, but I'd go smaller for a track frame. Im not really sure if the Soma Rush has a high bottom bracket though.
