ride Mavic Ellipses on the street?

I'm coming into some money (working full-time for the next few months), which is great because it's time for a new wheelset. I have always loved and am considering Ellipses. But I'd be riding on the street mostly and I do feel a bit guilty about it.

If you disagree with riding Ellipses on the street (which a lot of you guys might), recommend me a good ALL black, low profile, decently lightweight, strong rim other than Velocity Aeroheads, and Open Pro CD. I know those are good, but I want to know what else is out there.

my understanding is that the ellipses are a b*itch to maintain and stronger wheels can be built with regular spokes. IRD for rim rec.

you could always do prolly's thing and use 29er disc only rims, if you're not running brakes
