Cell Fixed/Track bike
We have a new budget priced Bike available here in Australia from an online shop.
I know you guys over there are spoilt for choice with budget bikes from online distributors, and expected this to be an SE/mercier/windsor frame. It appears to be different though.Rear drop outs are smaller, integrated seat post clamp, and outboard B/B bearings. http://www.cellbikes.com.au/p_2207_C...s_or_Velodrome Does this frame look familiar or does anyone have one, if so what are your impressions? Cheers Dave |
The bars in the zoomed in picture look really cheap and even scratched. What's with that?
|
I dont think that any of the BD bikes are triple butted.
|
The shape of the bars doesn't look fabulous (no shoulder position really) and I've never heard anything positive about Quando Hubs. Truvativ makes good stuff (never heard of the elita line though) but if it's all you can afford, why not? The only thing I see that I'd be concerned over is the quandos
|
looks like junk
|
lol @ that bike.
|
If that's actually a triple butted frame and the crankset is a lower -grade version of the Omnium, that seems like a really decent deal (<$400US). The wheels are the one sketchy part of the deal, and it would be nice to see some geometry info...
I can't think of any similar rebranded frames with seatpost crowns and long shen dropouts. |

E mailed the retailer and they told me the frame is coming from the same factory as fuji Obey and SE premium.
They had a tig weld frame to meet a pricepoint. They are looking at doing a lugged version in the future. |
is the product bike under felt bike company? because I look at cell logo on bike look like felt logo, but i know frames are different between cell and felt products..

actually, not even all that rebranded, that logo looks exactly like the SE logo Cell tell me they were going to be lugged, but changed to tig after our dollar sank, to meet a price point. I figured they were probably a BD type bike but nothing else I've found online looks similar. Its different to a lager or fuji track as well. |
the bike pictured is ****ed up, why would they picture a bike with jacked up handle bars and a badly dented TT?? poor marketing like that is a red flag alone.
|
it may just be a ****ty shop job...who knows
|
bike looks like crap....stay away
|

Unfortunately, Australians don't have the benefit of cheap discounted bike retailers suck as Bikes Direct (Mercier TT etc). This is probably the cheapest fixie of its kind here. The nearest bike in comparison is the Fuji Track (AU$599 RRP excluding brakes). The SE Lager is AU$700. The Schwinn Madison is AU$850. The Cell is AU$549.
Sure, the hubs aren't the best but the rest of the components are ok. I believe that the frame is manufactured in the same factory that makes SE bikes (and the Fuji Track) so it's decent cr-mo. Until some other company decides to bring in a cheap fixie, this is as cheap as it gets. Someone tell Bikes Direct they need to ship to Australia...oh wait, Australia Post has size limitations on parcels... |
