Reflective tape

OK. This stuff from 3M rocks on visibility. I have some on my bike and I had some on my bag until I got rained on today. It doesn't want to stick to wet canvas. Not really unexpected but I really like the visibility that it gave when it was on the bag. I ride a lot at night. Anyone have any ideas how to stick this stuff to my bag more permanently? I have a couple reflectors zip tied to the bag but the tape really is much better and I want to find a solution.

you can zip tie some of those otherwise useless long curved spoke reflectors to your helmet for the reflective mohawk look...

The tape I keep strictly on the metal bits. But there's lots of odd metal bits (less if ya ain't got no gears, but even then....)

Timbuk 3 has those hang tabs for your bag, too....

How about my Trixie girlfriend attaches it to your bag while you are wearing it. She'll use an axe handle and some 20d nails to make sure it stays in place. We'll be right over.

randya 04-20-04 09:58 PM

Do the nails have reflective heads?? :)

pitboss 04-20-04 09:59 PM

It can be arranged...I hear that reflective tape sticks to metal.

Did Karstens give you some of his cheap "belligerent boy" wine or something? I mean really, I said I was sorry.

C'mon, it's all in good fun. And I don't need wine, I got cheap beer.

Actually I found a bag for you here http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/catalog/c...2?categoryId=3
That way you can carry a spare tire with you and carry your mat with you at the same time.

On an "I hate marketing" note. Notice that she is riding a scooter past a coffee shop wearing a "Messenger" bag with some funky yoga doodle design on it. I'm gonna buy me a mountain someday and become a kook on the mountain.

You must have had skitbraviking as a teacher. I do not see the word "messenger" anywhere in the description of the Yoga bag (except in the materials they use for its construction). It is a "lifestyle" bag according to their website. I will let them know how much of your entrails is holds though.
I like how their messenger bags are shown in tandem with a ****ing Copper Mini. Asswipes.
Marketing makes me want to kill

I like those soothing geometric yoga patterns. Is that to hypnotize the motorists?? And - do I see that right - are they printed on the blessed reflective fabic of the 3M godz??

Om Shanti :)

I've got a bag full of that reflective tape - I used to work for a company that did a lot of printing/assembly for 3M. They had a big project when that stuff rolled out where they had 5x8 inch sheets that you could punch out little samples out of the center. They were just going to throw out the half inch borders that were left over.

Actually ruined a bike thinking it would be cool to cover the entire thing with silver tape... It was already chrome. That stuff doesn't come off of metal very easy.

If you want something to stick on canvas, you're going to have to go with needle and thread. I wouldn't use the sticky stuff though - pick up something like this:

skitbraviking 04-22-04 10:34 PM

I hear that you can iron on it to your skin.

randya 04-22-04 10:43 PM

I want a tattoo in reflective ink!!!

HereNT 04-23-04 01:15 AM

They make invisible tattoos that don't show up until you're under a blacklight...

RainmanP 04-23-04 06:19 AM

How about attaching a panel of lightweight plastic to the bag with the Scotchlite stuck to that? Something like the plastic used for 2-liter soft drink bottles, if you can figure out a way to make it lay flat. Maybe 165's girlfriend can help with her axe and nails.

streners 04-23-04 07:05 AM

how about getting some real hardcore glue epoxy resin or whatever it is, failing that, then there is the needle and thread option, but that's more effort and conceivably might leak into the bag

DanFromDetroit 04-23-04 07:45 AM

Here is a random idea:

Since this is an election year, find some campaign buttons; you know the ones with the pins. Put the tape over the face of the button, then pin the button to the bag.

Are you trying to tell me that 165's girlfriend is some sort of a blacksmith Rainman? Because I think that might make him a little upset as she is clearl a yoga toting trixie.
:)
