First my old conversion:

Right when i got it off craigslist
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ley/ugly-1.jpg

Then some risers and white chain
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ey/bike1-1.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ey/bike2-1.jpg

Then painted it, added drops w/ yellow cinelli tape, pake tt pad, nitto dynamic stem, chrome kalloy post, messengers, sylvans, soma double straps, cages
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...rley/bikey.jpg

Thenn sadly i got hit, so i replaced the frame and back wheel which were destroyed. so this is my current evolution.

Kilo tt:

At first
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...y/100_1909.jpg

Then ditched ugly tt pad
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ey/newbik1.jpg

Then new back wheel, seat post, saddle, bars, grips,
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...rley/kilo3.jpg
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...rley/kilo2.jpg

Then now, replaced front wheel, front tire, seat post clamp, stem

It seems to be super durable. It comes stock on lots of bikes (Fuji, KHS, etc) and it's pretty comfortable. I moved it to my cargo bike.

I think we have the same bullhorns. Do you know what kind they are? Because I totally forgot and it's bugging me.

bw286 01-19-09 08:10 PM

OS nashbar brand. best horns ever, with the flat tops.

dayvan cowboy 01-19-09 08:10 PM

Did you paint those tires or are those tires that they sell?

bw286 01-19-09 08:11 PM

rivendell speedblend ruffy tuffys. great tires. blend to teal and purple at speed.
they're also really expensive b/c of the weird process they put em through for the sidewalls

Well, it's in pieces on the way to its fixed gear conversion.

I thought that was a massive pie-plate on the back for a moment. :thumb:

out of the box, last june or so:
http://www.pixelparlor.com/images/bi...zip_bike18.jpg

i never really used the drops, even at first:
http://www.pixelparlor.com/images/bi.../zip_bike1.jpg

i added a brake, fender, changed the pedals, replaced the rear tire with an armadillo, trimmed the steerer, chopped the bars a little:
http://www.pixelparlor.com/images/bi.../zip_bike5.jpg

I replaced the wheels, saddle, seatpost, stem, chainring, cog, lockring, clips, straps, and replaced the rear tire with a folding gatorskin to get it just right:

Admit it, a bike that sweet needs a honey brooks, not black, and a nice silver nitto rack. Maybe one of these. http://www.rivbike.com/images/produc...193/20-075.jpg

And since you have honjo fenders, you can't claim cost as a factor.

The well-worn B-15 was from my first road bike. The leather around one of the rivets has torn, so it's only a matter of time before it dies. This makes me sad, as it's been the most comfortable saddle thus far. I just can't bear to part with it. A honey replacement has been the plan for some time now.

The Pass & Stow front rack is handmade locally, and I absolutely love the piece. It allows me to carry all sorts of things--the wide platform is a huge plus. Strapping down an overloaded backpack makes riding much more pleasant. It also has the ability to carry panniers, and the internal cable routing will come in handy with a new wheelset.

I spent a lot of time looking for the right front rack. Rivendell's offering is nice, but I desired a large base. Their rear rack interests me, however.

rotharpunc 01-22-09 10:49 PM

that rack looks well made and functional, but would be sweeter in chrome

This is it loaded on my trailer. I bought the frame on craigslist and brought it 12 miles home on my trailer. Note it had a Shimano FF (Freewheel built into crank) still installed when i got it.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3182/...fbe882e697.jpg

Here it is towingthe same trailer 3 1/2 months later towing the same trailer with a christmas tree on top. She's a work in progress. I need to wrap the bars, and buy a better crank. Its a really tiny frame with 175mm cranks, so you can't lean to far into turns, I hit the ground with the left pedal at low speed for the first time today. I was not expecting that.

Also in the plans. Finding a reliable, quality plating shop in CA is no joke.

wearyourtruth 01-23-09 12:17 AM
