Saturday at the swap meet
Today, schwinnbikelove and I went to the Memory Lane Classics vintage swap meet in Grand Rapids. I got there at about 10, schwinn didn't show up until about 11. In the mean time, I perused the displays of mostly cruisers, but I did come across a beautiful set of vintage track bikes, and a few track bikes with wooden rims!
After schwinn showed up, I found a nice set of road pedals, and she introduced me to some of her friends. Luckily, schwinn had some tools so I put the pedals on after I bought them. We then rode around Grand Rapids a little bit, riding a dirt trail along the Maumee river. Bad idea riding it with skinny tires, I pinch flatted on the way back. Ah well, life goes on. I patched up my tire, and we spun a little bit around the town, talking bikes, stuff like that. Back at the swap meet, we traded bikes for a bit. Mine didn't fit her too well, but her bike was one of the most comfortable bikes I have ever ridden. She brought a Cannondale mountain bike to try to sell, so i test rode that, and decided that shifting is a wierd function of a bike. Aside from all of the biking we did, we got a look at the massive amount of Stingrays, heavyweight cruisers, and the new Stingrays. All were very nice, and it was a good look into the history of bikes. All in all, a fun day! schwinn, it was nice meeting you, and I hope to ride with you again sometime! BTW, feel free to add comments schwinn!
